I was a complete beginner without my own car and terrified of driving and look at me know- I just passed my driving test! Whenever I hear that somebody is looking for driving lessons I recommend Michael. He knows exactly what's required for you to pass and will spot every mistake that you make but gives very helpful feedback.

There aren't many good teachers out there so don't waste your time and money on those who can't teach you properly. Michael is an extremely patient and well trained instructor and definitely earned a positive comment.

And finally: good luck to everybody on your test- if I could pass it so can you!

I would highly recommend the 5thGear Driving School to anybody who is learning how to drive or preparing for their driving test. I took 4 lessons with Michael in preparation for my driving test in September 2009. Having not driven for quite some time i was a little bit rusty getting back into a car and particularly sceptical about my chances of passing the test. However I found the instructor to be great, he focused in on the technical faults I was making within my driving and ensured we practised enough to correct these as well as strengthening my stronger aspects. The lessons were performed on the test route where my test was to be held. As well as this, his informal approach and reassurance throughout the lessons gave me added confidence and helped me to relax on the day of the test. The school also provided the car for the test which I had become used to during the lessons which was also helpful. In the end I passed the test which was a great feeling. The 5thGear Driving School's lessons were no doubt a great help to me in passing my test.

I would definitely recommend Michael as a driving instructor. Patience,calmness, great ability to teach and I'm a very nervous person. I am now a happily qualified driver. I took my lessons with Michael and I found him very good.
I was a very nervous driver to begin with. I bought a car 3 years ago and took lessons with 2 different ladies over those 3 years to no avail. With both of those ladies I went for a couple of lessons and thought I was a disaster and gave up completely.
I then changed jobs early this year and needed to learn to drive for the job, and it was then I started talking lessons with Michael. I found him very encouraging and helpful. He increased my confidence no end and spent some time focusing on the areas that were difficult for me, such as reversing around corners. Also, what was very beneficial was the hours he worked to suit my un-sociable time table.
I found it hard to believe the difference in standards of the instructors, if I had used Michael 3 years ago I would have been confidently driving back then.

I passed my test 2 weeks ago and was very happy to do so, and I have to thank Michael a lot for his help in this.

I would definitely recommend him to a friend.

I would recommend both the lessons & the pre test lessons to anyone that wants to get started driving & pass their test first time.
Your attention to detail is excellent & even the smallest bad habit or mistake never went unnoticed ! The lessons had a friendly atmosphere, were well organized & the feedback at the end was where I learnt the most from each session.

After just 4 weeks of lessons( I have never driven car before ) I passed my driving test at the first attempt. This was all down to the high standard of driving lessons given by Michael. I can't praise Michael enough. He's been a great driving instructor to me. Pretty much a learner when I started, Michael made me feel confident enough to drive my own car after only 2 lessons! Patient, thorough and with a good sense of humor, Michael has made learning to drive enjoyable. I wouldn't hesitate him to recommend him to any learner driver or anyone taking pre-test lessons.
